The holiday season is a fun, magical time for families—especially when you have a new baby to share it with for the first time! And even though every Supermom should already be totally finished with their holiday shopping (#sarcasm), we wanted to share some of our personal favorite gift ideas for anyone who might be looking for some inspiration.
We rounded up a few choice baby gifts, and early next week we’ll be sharing some of our favorite gift ideas for new moms. Here’s the first installment of our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide: Babies!
Pirate Captain Rattle by Maileg ~ $19
Ahoy, captain adorable! This quirky rattle, created by Danish company Maileg, is one of the cutest we’ve seen so farrrr (sorry, we had to).
Little Tikes 2-in-1 Snug ‘N Secure Swing ~ $28
In case you’ve forgotten: as a baby or toddler, swinging pretty much equals flying. And what greater gift is there than the gift of flight? Imagination, you are cleared for takeoff!
Longfellow Tiger Stuffed Animal by Melissa & Doug ~ $17
Baby Leg Warmers ~ $17
What’s more adorable than chubby little baby legs? Chubby little baby legs in chunky little leg warmers, that’s what. We love this cable knit variety from Etsy, but a quick Googlin’ will open up a whole new world of baby leg fashions. Work it, baby, work it!
I mean, come on. Look at him! It’s not even fair how cute this guy is. If only we could all be as relaxed as Longfellow Tiger. Adventure Jumpsuit and Hand-knitted Baby Bloomers by Rylee + Cru ~ $50
We’re big, huge, gushing fans of the entire Rylee + Cru baby/toddler clothing line created by illustrator and mother of two, Kelli Murray. Take-Along Shape Sorter by Melissa & Doug ~ $20
This fun, educational toy is great for baby’s development, and great for having fun on the go. Easy to transport, and easy to pack up again when it’s time to leave (as long as you’re at least as good at matching those shapes as our babies are). Boho Booties by The Land of Nod ~ $20
The only question you have to ask yourself is: Are you okay with your baby being more fabulous than you? If not, don’t even dare look at the gold ones. Busy Poppin’ Pals Toy by Playskool ~ $10 Not only is the Poppin’ Pals Toy a lot of fun for babies, it also theoretically helps them grasp a little concept called “object permanence” (a.k.a. the thing that keeps them from screaming their adorable little faces off every time you’re out of sight for even a second). Night Night Birmingham A bedtime story about Birmingham, written and illustrated by two of Birmingham’s own. If you love the Magic City, you’ll love Night Night Birmingham! Chewbeads A great baby/mommy hybrid gift. Get a Chewbeads bracelet for baby, or a necklace for Mommy to divert baby’s attention from your “real” jewelry when teething starts. Lovies
These baby blankets double as fuzzy friends that your little ones will cuddle up to every chance they get. That wraps up the first installment of our 2014 Holiday Gift Guide. Early next week, we’ll be sharing the second part: gifts for new Moms! In the meantime, remember: no matter how adorable your baby’s gifts are, there’s still a pretty good chance they’d prefer to play with the box. But don’t get your feelings hurt. It’s not personal—it’s just baby stuff. What are some of your favorite gift ideas for new babies?
