Big Brother/Big Sister Tour

This class is offered to help to prepare any big brothers and/or big sisters for their new sibling and make them more comfortable about Mom being in the hospital. They will also receive a tour of the OB and Mother/Baby Units. A parent or guardian is required to stay with the child(ren) throughout this class.

Birth Navigator

When you’re pregnant, you know you have a lot of really special moments to look forward to. Our free Birth Navigator service is designed to help you plan for the next few months. Think of your Birth Navigator as your personal guide for your journey to motherhood, who will give you valuable information, discuss your labor options and birth preferences, provide an escorted facilities tour and help connect you with prenatal classes and services.

Boot Camp for New Dads

Boot Camp for New Dads is a nationally recognized seminar that helps prepare dads for a new baby. In this three hour program you will have a chance to ask your questions, learn practical ways to partner with mom, find out about your role in breast feeding, work on a plan to help mom with baby blues and much more! Breastfeeding Class

This class will introduce expectant and new mothers to every aspect of the breastfeeding process. The instructor will teach you how to initiate breastfeeding and explore some of the common concerns associated with breastfeeding. *Fathers to-be are encouraged to attend.

Breastfeeding Mom’s Support Group

A great way to learn more about breastfeeding is by being with other breastfeeding mothers. Six groups meet each week with a lactation consultant. Mothers can weigh their babies, talk to a consultant, and make new friends. The setting is very casual. Moms can come and go as they wish. There are no fees or obligations. Moms can bring any female with them. The groups are open to all moms who are breastfeeding or pumping for their baby.

Breastfeeding Preparation Class

This class is for the expectant mother and support person to gain information and knowledge of techniques and benefits of breastfeeding. Practical skills, common challenges, and solutions will be discussed to help you gain confidence for a successful breastfeeding experience. Topics include breastfeeding in the hospital and at home, nutrition, breast pumps, nutrition, breast pumps, breastfeeding concerns, and breastfeeding after returning to work. This class meets on Tuesday evenings or Saturday mornings for two hours. Fathers or other support people are encouraged to attend.

Daddy Bootcamp

Boot Camp for new dads is a nationally-recognized seminar that helps prepare dads for a new baby. Getting Ready to Be a Grandparent

Please join us for an exciting class about how to be a grand parent and a grandparent. This class will teach you the latest trends including gender reveal parties, names for grandparents and nursery themes. You will also learn all that’s changed in child safety and childcare practices and how to be helpful once baby comes home.

*Classes will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am.

Infant CPR & Child Safety

Our class is held from 6:30pm to 8pm and will teach parents and grandparents American Heart Association’s Family and Friends CPR for infants and children. This class includes information on how to manage a choking infant or child. To ensure that we have enough manikins, everyone that plans to attend need to be enrolled.

Infant CPR and Safety Class

Please join us for a practice while you watch video and instructor facilitated program that covers information on how to perform the basic skills of CPR, and how to help an infant who is choking. Accident prevention and child safety will be discussed as well. The class is offered for anyone aged 12 and older who wants to learn CPR, but does not require certification.

Marvelous Multiples ®

This half-day course is held from 9 am to 12:30 pm and is specially designed for parents expecting twins or more. The class covers ways to have a healthy multiple pregnancy, signs of potential complications, and how labor, delivery, and recovery are different with multiples. You’ll meet other parents and discuss practical tips about life at home with newborn multiples as well as breastfeeding logistics for feeding more than one baby. A tour of the Mother/Baby units and NICU are included. For the greatest benefit, please schedule your class for your second trimester (18 to 25 weeks).

New Parent CPR Training & Injury Prevention

Our class will teach parents and grandparents American Heart Association’s Family and Friends CPR for infants and children. This class includes information on how to manage a choking infant or child. To ensure that we have enough manikins, everyone that plans to attend need to be enrolled.

OB/Hospital Tour

Brookwood welcomes expectant parents to a tour of the Women’s hospital. For your convenience, this class is offered at both 5:30pm to 6:30pm and 6:30pm to 7:30pm and will provide information about the hospital and what you can expect while delivering at our facility.

*Please enroll all attending including partners, friends or family members. Everyone that will be attending the class MUST be enrolled.

This is a 3 hour class is held on Mondays from 5pm – 8pm and is designed to help expectant parents prepare for childbirth by teaching relaxation and breathing techniques, preparation for labor and delivery, postpartum care, and infant care. A tour of the OB and mother/baby unit is included. OB Tours are included with class. Mother is encouraged to bring her partner/support person to class. But there is no need to register that person for the class.

Prepared Childbirth Saturday

This one day Saturday class is offered for first times parents-to-be, or for those that feel they would benefit from a childbirth education refresher, but are unable to attend a weekly series. The same information in the weekly series is covered on this Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm (7 hours). Lunch is on your own. Topics include pregnancy, the process of labor and delivery, options for pain relief, basic relaxation and coping tips, cesarean sections, post-partum, infant care, hospital procedures, and infant security policies. A tour of the Women’s Center is also included. We recommend registration during the 5th or 6th month of your pregnancy, and to take the class during your seventh month.

*Please register only the mother-to-be.

Sibling/Grandparent Tour

Welcoming a new baby can be an exciting and sometimes unsettling experience for big brothers or big sisters to be. This Saturday morning tour is recommended for children ages 2 and up and the expectant parents. The tour aims to help the big sister/big brother to feel more comfortable with our Women’s Center, review how to be a helper in caring for a new baby, and give them the opportunity to ask questions of their own. We strongly encourage discussion about a new addition within the family to help with the transition. A parent/guardian is required to stay with the child throughout the tour. Please register each child that is attending. We also encourage expectant grandparents and other adult support persons to take a tour of our Women’s Center and give us the opportunity to answer any questions you may have on our hospital policies and procedures.

Unmedicated Birth Class

This class will discuss natural childbirth without the use of medication. Comfort techniques including water labor will be discussed. Lamaze coping strategies are taught by childbirth educators with knowledge and skills in assisting with unmedicated birth. This class is intended for experienced moms who desire unmedicated birth or first time moms who have attended Prepared Childbirth Class. A basic knowledge of labor and birth is recommended.

Please enroll only the mother to be but mother’s to be are welcome to bring a support person.

Bring 2 pillows and a blanket to class with you.
