Breastfeeding Support

Big Brother/Big Sister Tour - Free

This class is offered to help to prepare any big brothers and/or big sisters for their new sibling and make them more comfortable about Mom being in the hospital. They will also receive a tour of the OB and Mother/Baby Units. A parent or guardian is required to stay with the child(ren) throughout this class.

Birth Navigator Appointment - Free

Meet your personal guide for your journey to motherhood. When you are pregnant, you know you have a lot of really special moments ahead of you. But you also know there’s a lot. That’s why we’re proud to introduce our free Birth Navigator service, designed to help you plan for the next few months. When you meet with your Birth Navigator, she will: – Assess your personal pregnancy needs – Help acquaint you with all our prenatal services – Provide information about breastfeeding and other healthy behaviors – Discuss labor options and birth preferences – Assist in selecting classes/groups based on your needs – Provide a guided “tour of our facility”

Breastfeeding - $15

This 2 hour class will introduce expectant mothers to every aspect of the breastfeeding process. The instructor will teach you how to initiate breastfeeding and explore some of the common concerns associated with breastfeeding. *Fathers to-be are encouraged to attend. Please enroll everyone that plans to attend. Our Refund Policy: Refunds requested prior to 30 days of class start date will be honored. Refunds requested after that date will only be honored in the case of a medical complication of pregnancy.

Breastfeeding Support Group

A great way to learn more about breastfeeding is by being with other breastfeeding mothers. Six groups meet each week with a lactation consultant. Mothers can weigh their babies, talk to a consultant, and make new friends. The setting is very casual. Moms can come and go as they wish. There are no fees or obligations. Moms can bring any female with them. The groups are open to all moms who are breastfeeding or pumping for their baby.

Daddy Bootcamp - $15

Boot Camp for new dads is a nationally-recognized seminar that helps prepare dads for a new baby. In this three hour program, you will have a chance to ask your questions, learn practical ways to partner with mom, find out about your role in breast feeding, work on a plan to help mom with baby blues and much more!

Getting Ready to Be a Grandparent - $10

Please join us for an exciting class about how to be a grand parent and a grandparent. This class will teach you the latest trends including gender reveal parties, names for grandparents and nursery themes. You will also learn all that’s changed in child safety and childcare practices and how to be helpful once baby comes home. *Classes will be held from 9:00am to 11:00am.

Infant CPR & Child Safety - $15

Our class is held from 6:30pm to 8pm and will teach parents and grandparents American Heart Association’s Family and Friends CPR for infants and children. This class includes information on how to manage a choking infant or child. To ensure that we have enough manikins, everyone that plans to attend need to be enrolled. Let's Talk About Girl Things - Free

Parents, bring your daughter and join us for an enlightening discussion and puberty, sexuality, sexual reproduction, boys, and other need- to – know topics. Let’s get the conversation started and prepare girls for success as they mature. We recommend this class for girls age 8 to 12 years. Parent or support person is required. Breakfast is included.

Marvelous Multiples® - $35

This half-day course is held from 9 am to 12:30 pm and is specially designed for parents expecting twins or more. The class covers ways to have a healthy multiple pregnancy, signs of potential complications, and how labor, delivery, and recovery are different with multiples. You’ll meet other parents and discuss practical tips about life at home with newborn multiples as well as breastfeeding logistics for feeding more than one baby. A tour of the Mother/Baby units and NICU are included. For the greatest benefit, please schedule your class for your second trimester (18 to 25 weeks). $35.00 per couple.

OB/Hospital Tour - Free

Brookwood welcomes expectant parents to a tour of the Women’s hospital. For your convenience, this class is offered at both 5:30pm to 6:30pm and 6:30pm to 7:30pm and will provide information about the hospital and what you can expect while delivering at our facility. *Please enroll all attending including partners, friends or family members. Everyone that will be attending the class MUST be enrolled.

Prepared Childbirth (Mondays) - $25

This is a 3 hour class is held on Mondays from 5pm – 8pm and is designed to help expectant parents prepare for childbirth by teaching preparation for labor and delivery, postpartum care, and infant care. A tour of the OB and mother/baby unit is included. OB Tours are included with class. Mother is encouraged to bring her partner/support person to class. But there is no need to register that person for the class. Our Refund Policy: Refunds requested prior to 30 days of class start date will be honored. Refunds requested after that date will only be honored in the case of a medical complication of pregnancy.

Prepared Childbirth (Tuesdays) - $25

This is a 3 hour class is held on Tuesdays from 5-8pm and is designed to help expectant parents prepare for childbirth by teaching preparation for labor and delivery, postpartum care, and infant care. A tour of the OB and mother/baby unit is included. Mother is encouraged to bring her partner/support person to class. But there is no need to register that person for the class. Our Refund Policy: Refunds requested prior to 30 days of class start date will be honored. Refunds requested after that date will only be honored in the case of a medical complication of pregnancy.

Prepared Childbirth Saturday - $25

This 3 hour class meets on Saturdays from 9am to 12 pm or 1pm to 4pm and is designed to help expectant parents prepare for childbirth by teaching preparation for labor and delivery, postpartum care, and infant care. A tour of the OB and mother/baby unit is included. Mother is encouraged to bring her partner/support person to class. But there is no need to register that person for the class. Our Refund Policy: Refunds requested prior to 30 days of class start date will be honored. Refunds requested after that date will only be honored in the case of a medical complication of pregnancy.

Understanding Birth eClass - $50

Can’t come to a childbirth class in person? We’ll bring the class to you. Our online childbirth education program is the perfect alternative to in-person education.

Unmedicated Birth Class - (an extension of the Prepared Childbirth Class)

This class is an extension of the prepared childbirth class and will discuss natural childbirth without the use of medication. Comfort techniques including water labor will be discussed. Lamaze coping strategies are taught by childbirth educators with knowledge and skills in assisting with unmedicated birth. This class is intended for experienced moms who desire unmedicated birth or first time moms who have attended Prepared Childbirth Class. A basic knowledge of labor and birth is recommended. Please enroll only the mother to be but mother’s to be are welcome to bring a support person. Bring 2 pillows and a blanket to class with you.
